Here’s a little fact about MRI scans: over 26 million scans are performed every year at a cost of 18 billion dollars. Insurance covers much of this cost, but because of the increase in major medical plans with high deductibles and co-pays, Americans are paying out of pocket for healthcare like never before. And that doesn’t even account for the 47 million who are without health insurance that have to pay in full.

One of the major issues with healthcare is that most often, the cost of a procedure is unknown until after the procedure is completed and billed. How is this possible? If we are buying a new air conditioner, we get several different quotes and know the cost up front before installation. Why shouldn’t this same method of consumerism be applied to healthcare?

At Northeast Nebraska Imaging, we make it easy. You are not just a patient in need of an MRI scan, you are a consumer who has a budget and needs to know the cost of your pending procedure. So first, we will show you what our procedures cost up front with no hidden fees or additional charges. Next, we will show you how our prices compare to those of hospitals.

The MRI prices listed below are on our company's Save On Medical page. Here you can view the prices of all of our digital imaging procedures, schedule your appointment, and pay for the procedure.

How Much Should An MRI Cost?

*Prices include imaging procedure, contrast solution or dye injection, and radiologist reading.

Now, let’s look at the approximate cost for an MRI procedure performed at a hospital. A recent study by RemakeHealth.com called five different hospitals and asked how much a brain MRI with a dye injection would cost. Here’s what they found:

• Two of the hospitals did not know the cost.
• The price range at three hospitals ranged from $1,750 - $2,200.
• One of the hospitals offered a 10% discount if paid in full.
• One of the hospitals only offered to split the payments in half.
• One of the hospitals wouldn’t provide a discount over the phone and asked that they speak to the radiology department in person.

It’s without question that a digital imaging center is the affordable choice for MRI scans. If you are in need of imaging services in the Norfolk area, please give us a call to schedule an appointment.
