We all know the feeling. 2:30 rolls around and your eyes instantly seem heavy, your head is constantly pounding, and your concentration is gone. You’re feeling groggy, tired, and you just want to go home and lay down. Why do you feel this way? The most common reason is simple, and so many Americans avoid it. You’re dehydrated!

 

When most people feel this groggy feeling, which happens so often for people it’s almost part of their routine, they pop an Advil or drink a cup of coffee. Drinking water can cause you to feel more productive, more energized, and happier when mid-day rolls around. Most Americans are chronically dehydrated and they don’t even know it.

 

Typically, the average person needs to be drinking 8 eight ounce glasses of water each day, and that is if you aren’t sweating. If you are exercising and sweating you need more water to keep yourself hydrated.

 

Even though everyone knows we need water to survive, people make up excuses to not drink it. People will say that it’s too boring or tastes gross, when there are solutions around this. If you feel water is too boring, put some lemon, strawberry, mints, or other fruits in it. It can make the water better tasting and then you will be more prone to drink it.

 

Whatever way you do it, you need to drink more water. It’s a constant struggle for people who feel groggy and tired in the afternoon because they do everything except drink a glass of water. Next time you are feeling bad at work or during the day, try it!
